How does the OnTyte™ Magnetic Stirrup System work?

The OnTyte™ System uses a specially engineered, patent pending, method of employing the magnetic attraction between OnTyte™ stirrups and boot soles.

Who can use the OnTyte™ Magnetic Stirrup System?

OnTyte™ stirrups can be used by all levels of riders; amateurs, professionals, beginners and leisure riders alike, on all types of English saddles.

How do I decide which stirrups are best for me?

We have designed a range of stirrup models to suit most rider preferences. Our lightweight Composite stirrups and Flex Comfort stirrups are favored by Show Jumpers and Hunters, as well as amateurs and leisure riders. Dressage riders prefer the classic Fillis stirrup. Our Peacock Fillis safety stirrup is best for young riders, beginners and riders with special needs. It is best to choose a style and size that you are already comfortable with.

What kind of boots can be resoled with OnTyte™ Soles?

OnTyte™ patented soles are best used on traditional English riding boots with leather and rubber soles. If you would like to wait before resoling your show boots, try our OnTyte™-ready short boots, Fury and Flame, and immediately experience the benefits of the system.

What is the best way to resole my boots?

The OnTyte™ Resole Kit allows you to easily have your favorite riding boots fitted with original OnTyte™ soles. The patented soles soles are specifically designed for english style riding boots with traditional leather & rubber outer soles.

The kit comes with easy to follow instructions for skilled shoemakers and cobblers.

What is the best way to get started using the OnTyte™ Magnetic Stirrup System?

Mount your horse as normal, and then let your feet connect to the stirrups. You can start by lifting your leg to adjust the stirrup with your hand to the desired position; after some practice you may simply move your foot sideways, backwards or forwards until you are satisfied with the position. Ride as you normally would, and soon you will begin to notice the difference of the OnTyte™ system. It won't take long to experience all of the benefits of the system! Click on our video to see how the system works.

What is the best way to dismount after riding with OnTyte™?

The most common method of dismounting is to raise your right leg up and remove the stirrup with your hand by pushing it forward and off. Continue to dismount as always and your left foot will come away naturally from the stirrup. A second method, acquired with some practice, is to introduce a side-angled movement with your foot that allows you to lift up and out of the stirrup. Lastly, a quick dismount can be achieved by lifting your right leg up and over the horse, and as you descend from the saddle, the magnetic force will break and the stirrup will fall away.

How should I take care of my OnTyte™ Stirrups?

OnTyte™ stirrups should only be cleaned by hand with warm water, a neutral soap and non-abrasive sponge. Note: Stirrups should never be disassembled, and they should not be placed or stored near sensitive electronic equipment, as they contain powerful magnets.

How should I take care of my OnTyte™ Short Boots and Mini-Chaps?

Take care of your leather boots and mini-chaps to preserve their quality and keep them looking like new. Fine calfskin requires conditioning to avoid dryness and cracking. Some simple steps to follow:

  1. Remove dirt by cleaning with a damp cloth, then let dry.
  2. Apply a neutral-colored leather shoe cream/conditioner with a soft brush, and leave to penetrate for about 20 minutes
  3. Shine using a soft brush or cloth and your leather will look like new!

How can I change the footpads on my OnTyte™ Stirrups?

One of the added benefits of using OnTyte™ stirrups is that our footpads rarely wear out due to less grinding and pressure of the foot on the stirrup. OnTyte™ stirrup footpads are specially designed for the magnetic system, and should never be removed; however, in the event that you do need to replace your footpads, contact us at info@ontyte.com for a factory replacement.
